Genetic Testing for Hereditary Cancer Risk
  • Did you know that it’s possible to have a genetic mutation that increases your risk of developing cancer? That’s not to say that having this mutation guarantees you will develop cancer in your lifetime; rather, knowing whether this mutation exists or not allows us to better prepare for or fight against increased cancer risk.

Hereditary Cancer Gene testing may be suggested for those with a family history of cancer, based on clues such as family members who have developed cancer at an early age, or multiple family members who have developed the same or related cancer types.

Genetic Testing for Carrier Genes
  • Most carriers are healthy with no family history, but they are at risk of passing on a genetic condition to their child. Carrier screening is a genetic test that identifies if you carry a gene with a change, or variant, that can impact your child. When performed before conceiving, genetic carrier screening can provide actionable knowledge and the opportunity to pursue alternative reproductive options.
