Continuous Glucose Monitoring by Donna Hayek

Continuous Glucose Monitors or CGMs are a fairly new concept. Originally, they were developed for diabetics, but now non-diabetics are using them for valuable information; such as how blood glucose levels respond to food, exercise, stress, and sleep. The results are analyzed in real time and are advertised to build healthier habits that support weight loss.

Blood sugars can impact metabolism, hunger, and energy levels. Fluctuations in readings can result in cravings, overeating, and weight gain. By learning how our bodies function, we can make positive changes with regard to diet, exercise, stress and sleep. This, in turn, will decrease the fluctuations of the blood sugars and make weight loss a reality by developing healthier habits. This information can reveal patterns and help us to make informed choices on the way we choose to live our lives.  Since glucose and insulin levels can affect our weight, some people will use it solely as a weight loss tool.

So how does a CGM work? It transmits data to the Signos app on your phone by a smart device integration system. It also provides meal impact predictions, fasting and meal timing tips, recommendations for activity tracking, and weekly reports to track wins!

The Dexcom G7 CGM monitor is the most accurate system with a small sensor that is comfortable and discreet. It also is waterproof up to 8 feet.
